The MINI Digital Key Plus uses "ultra-wideband" (UWB) digital mobile technology and Bluetooth®. When you approach your MINI with Operating System 9, it is automatically unlocked, starts a welcome scenario and activates all functions for the vehicle start. To start the engine, your mobile device must be in the passenger area. If your country or your mobile device does not support the "ultra-wideband" (UWB) mobile standard, data is transmitted via the "Near Field Communication" (NFC) mobile standard. You then need to hold your smartphone or smartwatch against the door handle to unlock the vehicle and place it in the smartphone tray to start the engine.
To activate automatic driver recognition, select the following on the MINI Interaction Unit: "MINI ID" (profile icon in the status field at the top right) > "Profile settings" > "Driver recognition". Follow the instructions and select the desired smartphone with the MINI Digital Key Plus installed.
The MINI Digital Key Plus is available on compatible mobile devices for MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 and the option "Comfort Access" (SA 322). The availability and range of functions of the MINI Digital Key Plus may vary depending on the country of delivery.
