Is the MINI Digital Key for my MINI with Operating System 9 secure?

The hardware and software architectures of the installed systems used in BMW Group vehicles meet the highest requirements for security and data protection. The MINI Digital Key is stored on the secure element of your smartphone. The secure element is a certified chip that meets the highest safety standards for digital wireless technology. The "Near Field Communication" (MINI Digital Key) and "ultra-wideband" (MINI Digital Key Plus) technologies used for data transfer require the immediate proximity of transmitter and receiver. The MINI Digital Key is available for MINI vehicles with Operating System 9 and with the options "Comfort Access" (SA 322) or "MINI Digital Key" (SA 3DK).
