MINI how-to guide: This is how you switch on the Assisted Driving Mode in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Assisted Driving Mode (Steering and Lane Control Assistant) in your MINI with Operating System 9 helps you to maintain a desired speed and distance to the vehicle in front and to keep your vehicle in its driving lane.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).
  • Distance Control, front collision warning and, depending on the equipment, side collision warning must be active.
  • The driving lane must be sufficiently wide and the cornering radius sufficiently large.
  • Your hands must be on the steering wheel rim.

Important notes:

  • Depending on the speed, the system can base its analysis on the lane markings or on the vehicles in front.

  • Depending on the national-market version and equipment, information from the system is shown by indicator or warning lights in the Assisted View in the central display area of the MINI Interaction Unit and (depending on the equipment) in the MINI Head-up Display.

  • The two LEDs above the keypads on the steering wheel light up, similar to the displays on the MINI Interaction Unit.

  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • Depending on the equipment, the system is available at speeds below 210 km/h (with "Driving Assistant Professional") or 180 km/h (with "Driving Assistant Plus").

The range of functions, operating principle and system limits vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Press the "I/0" button on the steering wheel.

Step 2:
Press the "MODE" button on the steering wheel repeatedly until the Assisted Driving Mode is selected.

You can switch the displays on the steering wheel on and off and set the intensity of the steering wheel vibration in the "Driver assistance" > "Feedback at the steering wheel" menu by pressing the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.
