MINI how-to guide: This is how you switch the Assisted Driving Mode Plus on or off in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Assisted Driving Mode Plus (Traffic Jam Assistant) in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you in traffic queues on motorways and makes your steering effort easier. On suitable routes, your MINI independently maintains the desired speed, the driving lane and the distance to the vehicle in front. You can take your hands off the steering wheel as long as you keep a close eye on the traffic situation.

 

The Assisted Driving Mode Plus is offered automatically if the Assisted Driving Mode is active and all functional requirements for the Assisted Driving Mode Plus are met. Alternatively, you can switch the Assisted Driving Mode Plus on or off in the MINI system.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).
  • Distance Control, front collision warning and, depending on the equipment, side collision warning must be active.
  • The assistance system "Assisted Driving Mode" must be active in your MINI and the LED displays on the steering wheel must be switched on.
  • You are driving on a motorway or similar road with a sufficiently wide driving lane and a sufficiently large cornering radius.
  • The navigation system must clearly detect the road and the position of your MINI.
  • The function must be available in the country you are travelling to.

Important notes:

  • Depending on the speed, the system can base its analysis on the lane markings or on the vehicles in front.
  • Depending on the national-market version and equipment, information from the system is indicated by a green ("ASSIST PLUS" when the system is active) or white indicator light ("ASSIST PLUS READY" when the system is ready) on the MINI Interaction Unit and (depending on the equipment) in the MINI Head-up Display.
  • Similar to the displays on the MINI Interaction Unit, the two LEDs above the keypads on the steering wheel light up green (the system is active), yellow (the system is interrupted) or red (the system is deactivated).
  • The Driver Attention Camera in the instrument panel must detect that you are facing the traffic situation.
  • The system is available at speeds of up to approx. 60 km/h.
  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • The system limits of the sensors, the Assisted Driving Mode and the Driver Attention Camera apply.

The range of functions, operating principle and system limits vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following in the MINI system: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

 

Step 2:

Select "Driver assistance".

 

Step 3:

Select "Drive".

 

Step 4:

Select "Assisted Driving Plus".

 

Step 5:

Switch "Assisted Driving Plus" on or off.
