MINI how-to guide: This is how you activate or deactivate the Emergency Lane Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Emergency Lane Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you in forming an emergency lane in traffic queues on motorways or similar roads. As soon as the radar and camera sensors detect a traffic queue, you receive a Check Control message on the MINI Interaction Unit. Depending on the situation, the vehicle is steered to the left or right within the current driving lane at a speed below 40 km/h to form the emergency lane. Depending on the national-market version and equipment, information from the system is displayed in the Assisted View in the central display area of the MINI Interaction Unit.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).
  • Assisted Driving Mode must be activated in your MINI.
  • You are driving on a motorway or similar road.
  • The system detects a traffic queue.
  • The system detects lane boundaries.

Important notes:

  • The system uses the sensors of the Assisted Driving Mode.
  • The functional requirements and system limits of the Assisted Driving Mode apply.
  • The system does not relieve you from your own responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions. Observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

Depending on the country of delivery and equipment of your MINI, the availability and the range of functions may vary.

Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following in the MINI Interaction Unit: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

 

Step 2:

Select "Driver assistance".

 

Step 3:
Select "Drive".

 

Step 4:
Select "Emergency Lane Assistant".

 

Step 5:

Switch "Emergency Lane Assistant" on or off.
