MINI how-to guide: This is how you activate or deactivate the Lane Change Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Lane Change Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you when changing lanes on multi-lane roads. When you activate the turn indicator, you will feel supportive steering wheel movements in the direction of the new driving lane. The system also automatically adjusts the speed to the vehicle in front in the destination lane. After changing lanes, the system helps to keep your vehicle in the new lane.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).
  • In your MINI, Distance Control, Front Collision Warning and, depending on the equipment, Side Collision Warning must be activated.
  • The driving lane must be sufficiently wide and the cornering radius sufficiently large.
  • Your hands must be on the steering wheel rim.
  • Your seat belt must be fastened.
  • You are driving on a motorway or similar road with detectable lane boundaries.

Important notes:

  • The system uses the sensors of the Assisted Driving Mode.
  • The lane change can be cancelled by an opposite steering wheel movement or by activating the turn indicator in the opposite direction.
  • Depending on the equipment and national-market version, information from the system is displayed in the Assisted View in the central display area of the MINI Interaction Unit.
  • In trailer or rear carrier mode, operation with a trailer or rear carrier must be set on the MINI Interaction Unit.
  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

    System limits:

      • The system limits of the "Assisted Driving Mode" system apply.
      • The system is available up to a maximum speed of 180 km/h. The minimum speed is country-specific.

The availability, operating principle and system limits vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

    Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following in the MINI system: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

    Step 2:

    Select "Driver assistance".

    Step 3:
    Select "Drive".

    Step 4:
    Select "Lane Change Assistant".

    Step 5:

Switch the Lane Change Assistant on or off.
