MINI how-to guide: This is how you change the Lane Change Warning settings in your MINI with Operating System 9.

Lane Change Warning detects vehicles in the blind spot or when vehicles in the adjacent lane approach from behind. The warning light in the exterior mirror warns in various degrees. In the event of an acute warning, the steering wheel vibrates briefly. In an emergency, the system supports you by actively intervening in the steering to keep the vehicle in its driving lane.

Requirements:

  • Lane Change Warning is part of the standard equipment (MINI Connected Base) of your MINI with Operating System 9.

Important notes:

  • Depending on the national-market version and equipment, the system is automatically active each time a journey starts.
  • The system uses your vehicle's cameras and radar sensors.
  • The function may be restricted, for example, in the following situations:
    • The speed of the approaching vehicle is much higher than the speed of your vehicle.
    • On tight corners or narrow roads.
    • The bumper is soiled, iced or covered, e.g. by stickers.
  • The camera must detect the lane boundary for the steering intervention.
  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • Depending on the national-market version, the system intervenes in the speed range up to 210 km/h by means of an active steering intervention.

The range of functions, operating principle and system limits vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following on the MINI Interaction Unit: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

 

Step 2:

Select "Driver assistance".

 

Step 3:
Select "Safety and warnings".

 

Step 4:
Select "Lane Change Warning".

 

Step 5:
Select the desired setting for the warning ("Expanded", "Reduced", "Off", "Warning when turning") and, depending on the national-market version, for the steering intervention ("On"/"Off").

 

Note: You can set the intensity of the steering wheel vibration in the "Feedback at the steering wheel" menu.
