Traffic light detection in your MINI with Operating System 9 helps you to stop at red traffic lights and alerts you when it is possible to continue driving. In the "Automatic" setting, your MINI stops automatically at a red traffic light.
Requirements:
- Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).
- The assistance systems "Cruise Control" and "Distance Control" must be active in your MINI.
- The function must be available in the country you are travelling to.
Important notes:

To detect red traffic lights, the system uses the camera in the area of the interior mirror and, if necessary, the Driver Attention Camera and the data from the navigation system.

Red traffic lights are displayed in the MINI Interaction Unit. You can manually adopt detected traffic lights by pressing the "SET" button.

If the drive-off reminder is activated, you will see a pulsating traffic light icon in the MINI Interaction Unit when the traffic light phase changes to green.

The function of the traffic light detection may be limited in the following situations:
- If traffic lights are obscured, e.g. by other vehicles.
- At a multi-lane road junction with several traffic lights.
- The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.
System limits:
- The system is available at speeds of up to approx. 80 km/h.
- The system limits of the cameras apply.
The availability, operating principle and system limits vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.
Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.
Alternatively, select the following in the MINI system: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".
Step 2:
Select "Driver assistance".
Step 3:
Select "Drive".
Step 4:
Select "Stop at traffic lights".
Step 5:
Select the desired setting:

"Automatic": If possible, the vehicle stops automatically at road junctions, otherwise a notice to stop manually appears.

"Manual": Vehicle gives a notice to stop manually at road junctions.

"Off"
Note: In the "Stop at traffic lights" menu, you can also activate or deactivate the "Drive-off reminder" function.
