MINI how-to guide: This is how you activate or deactivate Crossing Traffic Warning in your MINI with Operating System 9.

Crossing Traffic Warning in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you at confusing exits or when leaving bay parking spaces. The system detects road users approaching from the side and warns you visually and acoustically. When there is a risk of collision when reversing, the system supports this by means of automatic brake intervention.

Requirements:

  • Rear Crossing Traffic Warning with brake intervention is part of the standard equipment of your MINI with Operating System 9.
  • For Front and Rear Crossing Traffic Warning, your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Driving Assistant Professional" (SA 5AU).

Important notes:

  • Visual warnings from the system are provided by a warning light in the exterior mirror, in the Park Distance Control view and in the camera image.

  • In addition to the visual warning, an acoustic signal sounds when your own vehicle is moving in the corresponding direction. Depending on the national-market version, the acoustic signal sounds when the drive position is engaged.

  • Crossing Traffic Warning switches off automatically when walking speed is exceeded or a certain distance is exceeded.
  • The function may be limited in tight bends, for example, or if objects crossing the road are moving very slowly or very quickly.
  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • The system limits of the sensors apply.

The range of functions and operating principle vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following in the MINI system: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

Step 2:

Select "Driver assistance".

Step 3:

Select "Parking".

Step 4:

Select the desired setting under "Crossing Traffic Warning", depending on the equipment:

  • "Rear warning"
  • "Front and rear warning"
  • "Rear brake intervention"
