Park Assist in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you when leaving parking spaces parallel or perpendicular to the road. Ultrasonic sensors measure the surroundings on both sides of your MINI. The system takes over vehicle control during the fully autonomous manoeuvre.
Requirements:
- Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Parking Assistant Plus" (SA 5DN) or "Parking Assistant Professional" (SA 5DW).
- You must have parked your vehicle in reverse either with Park Assist or manually.
- The system must detect an object in the vehicle surroundings.
- The distance to a detected kerb is at least 15 cm.
- The parking space is at least 0.8 m longer than your vehicle.
Important notes:
- When leaving parallel parking spaces, the vehicle automatically manoeuvres until it can leave the parking space without further steering wheel movement.
- When leaving bay parking spaces, the vehicle manoeuvres completely out of the parking space so that you can then continue driving in the direction of travel.
- The current status of Park Assist is shown on the MINI Interaction Unit and, depending on the equipment, in the Head-up Display.
- Any intervention other than pressing the brake pedal will result in the termination of the system.
- The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.
System limits:
- The system cannot detect very low obstacles or protruding objects that are higher up, e.g. wall protrusions.
The availability, range of functions and operating principle vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.
Step 1:
Switch on the drive-ready state.
Step 2:
With the vehicle stationary, press the Parking Assist button in the centre console control panel or engage reverse gear.
The display of the parking assistance system is displayed.
Step 3:
Select a suggested parking method on the MINI Interaction Unit, e.g. "Start leaving parking space".
Step 4:
Follow the instructions on the MINI Interaction Unit. When the Park Assist icon on the MINI Interaction Unit lights up green, the system is taking over the manoeuvring process. You can use the brake to reduce the speed.
A message is displayed at the end of the manoeuvring process.
Step 5:
Make sure that the traffic situation allows you to drive off.
Park Assist switches off automatically.
