MINI how-to guide: This is how you change the settings for the "Active Park Distance Control" Emergency Braking Function in your MINI with Operating System 9.

Park Distance Control (PDC) in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you when parking or leaving parking spaces with acoustic and visual warnings of obstacles. The "Active PDC" Emergency Braking Function initiates an automatic brake intervention in the event of an acute risk of collision. You can set which areas of your vehicle are to be protected.

Requirements:

  • The "Active Park Distance Control" Emergency Braking Function is part of the standard equipment (MINI Connected Base) of your MINI with Operating System 9.

Important notes:

  • As soon as the system intervenes, an icon with a corresponding message is displayed on the MINI Interaction Unit.
  • You can suppress the brake intervention by pressing the accelerator pedal.
  • After emergency braking to a standstill, you can cautiously approach the obstacle again. To do this, press the accelerator pedal lightly and release it again.
  • The system uses the Rear View Camera as well as the ultrasonic sensors on the side of the vehicle and in the rear bumper.
  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • The system limits of the cameras and sensors and those of the parking assistance systems apply.
  • The function is available below walking speed when reversing or rolling backwards.

The range of functions and operating principle of the parking assistance systems vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Press the direct access button "Driving settings menu" in the control centre.

Alternatively, select the following on the MINI Interaction Unit: Apps menu > "VEHICLE" (menu bar at the top) > "Driving settings".

Step 2:

Select "Driver assistance".

Step 3:

Select "Parking".

Step 4:

Select the desired settings for "Rear emergency brake intervention" and "Extra side emergency brake intervention".
