MINI how-to guide: This is how you start the Reversing Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Reversing Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9 supports you when reversing, e.g. when driving out of tight or confusing parking or road situations. Your vehicle stores the movements of the last route. The Reversing Assistant takes over the steering when reversing the saved route.

Requirements:

  • The Reversing Assistant is part of the standard equipment of your MINI with Operating System 9.
  • For the Reversing Assistant Professional, your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "Parking Assistant Professional" (SA 5DW).

Important notes:

  • Depending on the equipment of your MINI, the Reversing Assistant stores a maximum distance of 50 m (Reversing Assistant) or 200 m (Reversing Assistant Professional).

  • The system saves the distance you last travelled forwards without interruption at a maximum speed of 35 km/h.

  • You must regulate the reversing speed yourself. At a speed of approx. 7 km/h or more, the system warns you with a visual and an acoustic message.

  • Shortly before the end of the saved route, you will receive a visual and an acoustic message.

  • Any intervention other than pressing the accelerator or brake pedal will result in the termination of the system.

  • The system does not relieve you from your responsibility to assess the traffic situation correctly. Due to system limits, the system cannot react appropriately in all traffic situations. There is risk of accident, danger of injury and danger of property damage. Adapt your driving style to the traffic conditions, observe the traffic situation and remain ready to steer and brake at all times so that you can actively intervene if necessary.

System limits:

  • The function is available up to a speed of approx. 10 km/h. If this is exceeded, the system terminates the process.
  • Various influences can lead to lateral deviations when reversing, e.g.:
    • steering wheel movements while the vehicle is stationary while storing the route.
    • The speed is not adapted to the route.
    • Certain road characteristics, e.g. gradients, inclines or slippery surfaces.
    • Severely different conditions when storing and driving the route, e.g. other tyres or changed environmental factors such as weather.
    • Reversing Assistant Professional: under changed light conditions.
  • The system limits of the parking assistance systems, the cameras and the ultrasonic sensors apply.

The availability, range of functions and operating principle of the Reversing Assistant vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:

Switch on the drive-ready state.

Step 2:

With the vehicle stationary, press the Parking Assist button or engage reverse gear.

Step 3:

Select "Start Reversing Assistant" in the lower toolbar of the MINI Interaction Unit and follow the instructions on the MINI Interaction Unit.

Step 4:

Take your hands off the steering wheel and reverse carefully using the accelerator pedal and brake.

Note: Stop immediately in the event of obstacles and dangerous situations and take over the vehicle yourself. Follow the instructions from Park Distance Control (PDC).

Continue the journey at the end of the route.
