What is the function of coasting in my MINI?

The coasting function in your MINI ensures that the engine runs at idling speed to lower consumption during deceleration. The drive system makes it possible to roll efficiently in selector lever position D with minimum deceleration. This driving condition is known as coasting. It reduces fuel consumption. In some cases, vehicles with mild hybrid technology do not consume fuel while coasting. As soon as the brake or accelerator pedal is depressed, the engine is automatically reconnected. The coasting function in your MINI electric vehicle allows the electric drive system to roll without consuming energy. Coasting is automatically adapted to the respective driving situation. Please note: When the vehicle rolls, no energy is recovered (recuperation).
