How do I detect authentication errors at a public charging station and how can I still start charging?

In the event of authentication errors at public charging stations, first check that the charging station is ready for use - this can be recognised by the yellow flashing charging power socket on your vehicle. Then unplug the charging cable, replug it and re-authenticate yourself at the charging station.
