MINI how-to guide: This is how you set the charge mode for charging your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9.

To charge the high-voltage battery of your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9, you can choose between two different charge modes in the vehicle or in the MINI App:

 

  • "Immediately": The charging process starts as soon as the charging cable is connected.
  • "Time frame": You can set a departure time and a time frame for charging, e.g. to charge with a favourable electricity tariff.

    Requirements:

    • To set the charge mode in the MINI App, Remote Services must be booked and active for your vehicle.

    Important notes:

    • The maximum charging power of your MINI electric vehicle depends on the equipment of your vehicle and the external charging infrastructure, among other things. The following factors can reduce the charging power and thus increase the charging time: the maximum available charge current of the charging station, the state of charge, the temperature and the ageing condition of the high-voltage battery as well as the preconditioning of the interior for departure. Charging processes with alternating current (AC) generally take longer than charging processes with direct current (DC).
    • You can set the AC charging power in the vehicle in the MINI system "Charging" menu. A limitation of the maximum charging power is recommended, for example, to adjust the current strength to the capacity of your electrical installation at home.
    • MINI recommends a state of charge of between 10 and 80 percent to optimise the service life of the high-voltage battery of your MINI electric vehicle. A full charge to 100 percent is only recommended immediately before longer journeys. If required, set a charging target in the vehicle or in the MINI App.
    • Plug in a charging cable at the appropriate time.
    • Improper handling of electrical current can lead to electric shock due to high voltages or high currents. Even if it is indicated that the high-voltage battery is empty, the high-voltage system is still under high voltage. There is danger of injury, risk of fire, danger to life and danger of property damage. Observe the general safety regulations when handling electrical current. Never touch or modify live parts, e.g. orange-coloured high-voltage cables, even if the high-voltage battery is empty.
