MINI how-to guide: This is how you set the maximum current strength for the AC charging of your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9.

For high charging efficiency and to optimise the service life of the high-voltage battery of your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9, you should preferably charge at AC charging stations. You can limit the maximum charge current strength for AC charging, e.g. to adapt the current strength to the capacity of your electrical installation at home.

Important notes:

  • Before charging for the first time at a domestic socket outlet, you must determine the permissible charge current strength and adjust the current limitation ("AC limit").
  • If the permissible charge current strength is unknown, set the current limitation ("AC limit") to the lowest level.
  • If the charge current strength is set incorrectly, the power grid of the domestic socket outlet can be overloaded and overheat.
  • When charging at charging stations, the permissible charge current strength is automatically detected and a current limitation is set.
  • Improper handling of electrical current can lead to electric shock due to high voltages or high currents. Even if it is indicated that the high-voltage battery is empty, the high-voltage system is still under high voltage. There is danger of injury, risk of fire, danger to life and danger of property damage. Observe the general safety regulations when handling electrical current. Never touch or modify live parts, e.g. orange-coloured high-voltage cables, even if the high-voltage battery is empty.

Step 1:

Open the Apps menu.

Step 2:

Select "Charging".

Step 3:

Select "AC limit".

Step 4:

Switch on "AC limit".

Step 5:

Select the desired maximum current strength.
