Due to improvements in the security architecture to protect our customers and their vehicles, the previous external charging control is no longer possible. In these cases, external charging control was based on the transfer of the customer's login data to the service of the third-party provider so that they could take over the charging control using the Remote Services of the MINI App. We have prevented this option for data protection reasons and other aspects of component protection.
With the new "remote access charging" function, compatible electricity providers can control the charging process directly via the vehicle. A new interface (API) secured and provided by the BMW Group is responsible for this. The only requirement on the customer side for controlled charging in time frames with low prices is a suitable electricity tariff contract with one of the compatible electricity providers.
Any electricity provider that is prepared to comply with the safety standards and contractual conditions can be accepted by the BMW Group as a compatible electricity provider. The aim is to give users a high degree of flexibility when choosing their electricity provider by increasing the number of compatible electricity providers.
