MINI how-to guide: This is how you prepare the high-voltage battery of your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9 for optimised DC charging.

Your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9 features a battery preparation function for faster DC charging. The high-voltage battery is pre-tempered before a planned DC charging stop. This allows the charging power to be increased immediately after connecting to the charging post and the charging time to be reduced. You can activate the "Prepare battery" function automatically or manually in the MINI system or in the MINI App.

Requirements:

  • Battery preparation for faster DC charging is part of the standard equipment (MINI Connected Base) of your fully electric MINI with Operating System 9.
  • For the "Prepare battery" function in the MINI App, your MINI requires a software version from 11/2024.
  • The remaining range at the DC charging station must be at least 30 km.

Important notes:

  • In the "Activate automatically" setting, battery preparation starts automatically when route guidance to a DC charging station is started.
  • A time display indicates how long it is expected to take for the high-voltage battery to reach the target temperature.
  • Preparing the battery can reduce the range and increase energy consumption.
  • Manual activation is not possible in the following situations, for example:
    • The current or planned remaining range is too low.
    • Automatic preconditioning is already active.
    • A charging process is running, being initialised or there is a charging error.
    • "Max Range" is active.
    • The route guidance leads to an AC charging station.
    • There are system errors in the involved components.
    • The target temperature of the battery is reached.

System limits:

  • If there is no data on the charge current or charging power of the DC charging station, the battery heat management for optimised DC charging is not executed.
