MINI how-to guide: This is how you change the settings for the Intelligent Personal Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The Intelligent Personal Assistant in your MINI with Operating System 9 is a personal voice assistant that makes it easier for you to operate your vehicle and provides you with a wide range of information that goes beyond vehicle operation. The Intelligent Personal Assistant responds to the activation words "Hello", "Hey MINI", "Hi MINI", "Hello MINI" or "OK MINI". You can change the settings of the Intelligent Personal Assistant.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the "MINI Connected package" subscription from the MINI Connected Store.

    Important notes:

    • The following functional requirements apply to the Intelligent Personal Assistant:
      • A system language that is supported by the Intelligent Personal Assistant must be set via the MINI system.
      • Before using the Intelligent Personal Assistant for the first time, you may need to download the appropriate language package.
      • The commands must always be spoken in the set system language.
    • The following conditions must be met for the full range of functions:
      • You are logged in with your MINI ID.
      • Online speech processing is activated.
      • All settings under Privacy are activated.
      • The activation word is activated.
      • The suggestions are activated.
      • The corresponding MINI Connected Services are booked in the MINI Connected Store.
    • In the Owner's Handbook, you will find commands that can be spoken, labelled with brackets ("›...‹"), e.g.:

      • ›Example commands‹: Have possible example commands read out to you.

      • ›General information on voice control‹: Have information on the operating principle of voice control read out to you.

      • ›Help‹: Have tips and example commands for voice control read out to you.

    • In MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 (from 11/2025, except Ireland and the United Kingdom), you can also choose between a male and a female voice.

    Depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI, the availability, range of functions and operating principle of the Intelligent Personal Assistant may vary.

    Step 1:
    Open the Apps menu.

     

    Step 2:

    Select "All".

     

    Step 3:

    Select "Personal Assistant".

     

    Step 4:

    Select "Settings".

     

    Step 5:

    Select your desired settings for:

    • "GENERAL":
      • "Language"
      • "Activation via voice input" (activation word)
      • "Visualisation"
      • "Data analysis"
      • "Voice assistants"
    • "SUGGESTIONS":
      • "Receive suggestions"
      • "Voice output"
      • "Acoustic signal"
      • Select categories
