MINI how-to guide: This is how you add your MINI in the MINI App.

With the MINI App, you can check the vehicle status for stored vehicles, perform Remote Services, determine the current position, manage users and set up various digital services, such as the MINI Digital Key Plus, the Personal eSIM or Amazon Alexa. Remote Software Upgrades for your MINI with Operating System 9 can be downloaded via the MINI App and installed in your MINI. For MINI electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, you can save your electric charging settings and manage your charging tariffs. In the "Map" tab, you can find points of interest, plan your route and send it to your MINI. In the MINI Connected Store, you can see the MINI Connected Upgrades booked and available for your MINI. You can save your preferred MINI Service Partner and arrange a service appointment directly if required.

Requirements:

  • Your MINI with a MINI Controller and MINI system with a menu with displays in the form of tiles (ID6) must have been produced with a MINI Connected package from April 2018.
  • Your MINI requires a mobile connection. Avoid places with poor mobile phone reception, such as underground car parks.

Important notes:

  • Your MINI with Operating System 9 is automatically added to your MINI ID in the MINI App when you log in your MINI ID to the vehicle. Alternatively (e.g. before delivery), you can add your MINI in the MINI App.
  • In MINI models with Operating System 9, one main user and up to six co-users can log in with their MINI IDs. The user who first adds their MINI ID in the vehicle is the main user. All other users are co-users with limited rights.
  • MINI models with a MINI Controller and MINI system with a menu with displays in the form of tiles (ID6) can only be added to one MINI ID. When a vehicle is added to a new MINI ID, it is removed from the previous MINI ID.
  • You will need the vehicle identification number (VIN) of your MINI. You will find this in the registration certificate part I ("vehicle registration certificate"), in the registration certificate part II ("vehicle registration document") and, depending on the country of delivery and model of your MINI, behind the windscreen, on the door frame or in the door trim panel on the driver's or passenger's side, under a cover under the right-hand front seat or in the engine compartment on the right-hand side of the vehicle.
  • You must read out a security code from a MINI message in the vehicle and enter it in the MINI App within three hours.
  • You can add any number of vehicles to your MINI ID in the MINI App.
  • All newly added or removed MINI IDs will be notified of the change by e-mail.
