MINI how-to guide: This is how you start and end a manual recording with the Drive Recorder in your MINI with Operating System 9.

With the "Drive Recorder" vehicle app, the exterior cameras of your MINI with Operating System 9 create a video of the surroundings in a 360° view. The date, exact time, speed and GPS position are stored for each recording. The recording by the Drive Recorder can be started manually or automatically. Stored recordings can be played back in the MINI Interaction Unit and exported.

Requirements:

  • The Drive Recorder must be activated in your MINI with Operating System 9.
  • The recording type "Manual (vehicle)" must be activated in the Drive Recorder settings.
  • Your MINI must be operational.

Available depending on the country of delivery for MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 and the option "Parking Assistant Plus" (SA 5DN) or "Parking Assistant Professional" (SA 5DW) ex works.

Important notes:

  • The Drive Recorder automatically starts recording when the vehicle sensors detect an accident or theft.

  • You can select the recording duration and different cameras in the Drive Recorder settings.

  • The system stores the recordings up to approx. 30 seconds before and after the storage was triggered.

  • Depending on the equipment of your MINI, you can save the video recordings directly on a mobile device, e.g. on a smartphone or a USB storage device.
  • Depending on the country of travel, video recordings with the Drive Recorder and/or their utilisation may not be permitted.

System limits:

  • The storage of recordings on your smartphone depends on the quality of the Wi-Fi connection. The function may be restricted or unavailable if the connection is poor.

The availability, range of functions and operating principle vary depending on the country of delivery and the equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:
Open the Apps menu.

 

Step 2:

Select "All".

 

Step 3:

Select "Drive Recorder".

 

Step 4:

Select "Start recording".

To end the recording, select "End recording".

 

Alternatively, press and hold the Park Assist key in the control centre of your MINI. When you release the key, manual recording is ended.
