Why does the automatic release of door locks with the MINI Digital Key no longer work following a smartphone update?

Following an update of your smartphone’s operating system, your MINI might no longer unlock automatically when you approach the vehicle. This might be because the “Passive Entry” setting (a feature of Comfort Access) has been deactivated on your smartphone.

The MINI Digital Key is still stored on your smartphone and can still be used to unlock and start your vehicle using Near Field Communication (NFC). In this case, the automatic release of door locks when approaching the vehicle is not available.

 


Once you have activated “Passive Entry”, the automatic release of door locks should work as normal again when you approach your vehicle.

The availability of individual features depends on the model, equipment, market, smartphone model and software version.
