Once you have set up the MINI Digital Key Plus, the vehicle automatically detects your smartphone as soon as you approach, so that you can unlock the car without taking your smartphone out of your pocket.

Note: The operating principle of the MINI Digital Key Plus may vary depending on the smartphone. If the smartphone supports ultra-wideband technology (UWB), the vehicle automatically detects the smartphone as it approaches and opens or locks itself automatically. If the smartphone does not support this technology, the MINI Digital Key Plus is used via Near Field Communication (NFC). In this case, the smartphone must be held against the door handle to open or close the door, similar to using the MINI Digital Key.
