What is the Driver Attention Camera (infrared camera) in my MINI, and what is it used for?

The Driver Attention Camera is an infrared camera. It assists various driver assistance systems in assessing the driver’s level of attention. For this purpose, information such as line of sight, eye openness and head position is taken into account.

The information obtained can be used by driver assistance systems such as the Attentiveness Assistant or the Emergency Stop Assistant. This enables the vehicle to detect signs of waning attention and assist the driver in certain situations.

The availability of individual features depends on the model, equipment, market and software version.
