MINI how-to guide: This is how you save a MINI Mode as the start mode in your MINI with Operating System 9.

The MINI Modes change the drivability and the appearance of displays and lighting in your MINI with Operating System 9. In addition to the MINI Modes, there are also the MINI Experience Modes, which adapt the lighting effects in the passenger area, for example. You can save the MINI Modes "Core" and "Green" (in MINI electric vehicles with software version from 07/2024) and the MINI Experience Modes "Balance", "Personal", "Timeless", "Vivid" and "Trail" as the start mode. The saved MINI Mode or MINI Experience Mode is then active when the standby state is switched on.

Requirements:

  • MINI Modes are part of the standard equipment (MINI Connected Base) of your MINI with Operating System 9.
  • For the MINI Experience Modes, your MINI with Operating System 9 requires the option "MINI Experience Modes" (SA 4VF).
  • Depending on the country of delivery, model and equipment of your MINI with Operating System 9, the availability of individual MINI Modes in the standard equipment may vary.

Important notes:

  • You can save the following MINI Modes as the start mode:
    • Core Mode: Drive mode for comfort-oriented settings (preset as start mode).
    • Green Mode: Drive mode for a consumption-optimised setting with anticipatory display (as start mode only in MINI electric vehicles with software version from 07/2024).
  • You can save the following MINI Experience Modes as the start mode:
    • Balance Mode: Ambience mode for relaxed driving in a pleasant atmosphere.
    • Personal Mode: Ambience mode that offers special customisation options.
    • Timeless Mode: Ambience mode for driving in MINI retro design.
    • Vivid Mode: Ambience mode for a lively audio experience and impressive lighting effects in the passenger area.
    • Trail Mode: Ambience mode with special displays for off-road driving.
  • You cannot save the following MINI Modes as the start mode:
    • Go-Kart Mode: Drive mode for increased agility of your vehicle.
    • Green Mode (in MINI vehicles with a combustion engine and in MINI electric vehicles with software version up to 06/2024).

The availability and range of functions of individual MINI Modes may vary depending on the model and equipment of your MINI.

Step 1:

Press the "EXPERIENCES" switch in the control centre.

 

Step 2:

On the MINI Interaction Unit, select the icon for the settings (gear icon).

 

Step 3:

Select the desired MINI Mode as the start mode.
