How does "Plug & Charge" work with the PCID?

When the "Plug & Charge" function is activated, authentication takes place automatically when you connect your vehicle to a compatible charging station. When you plug in the charging cable, your MINI transmits a digital certificate containing the PCID number (Provisioning Certificate Identifier). The charging station checks this data in the background and authorises the charging process automatically.

It is based on the ISO 15118 standard, which enables secure and automated communication between the vehicle and the charging station.
