Depending on the model and drive variant, in your MINI with Operating System 9 you can choose the alternative gear selector positions "S" (Sport), "L" (Low) or "B" (Brake) in addition to the gear selector positions "P" (Parking), "N" (Neutral), "R" (Reverse), "D" (Drive).
In MINI models with combustion drive and Steptronic transmission, "S" is the alternative to "D". In the "S" gear selector position, upshifting takes place later. Gear changes occur faster and thus support an overall sportier driving style.
In MINI models without Sport programme and shift paddles, the Steptronic transmission offers the alternative "L" gear selector position. The low programme uses a lower gear than in "D", which increases the deceleration effect by the engine when releasing the accelerator pedal. When driving in "L", you need to use the brake pedal less, which enables a more comfortable and efficient driving experience, e.g. in urban traffic or downhill.
In MINI models with fully electric drive, you can switch to gear selector position "B" as an alternative to "D". This electric drive mode activates a permanently high recuperation level when releasing the accelerator pedal. This increases the deceleration effect by the electric motor and leads to a comfortable driving experience with the so-called "one pedal feeling". The alternative gear selector positions "S" (Sport), "L" (Low) or "B" (Brake) offer you more flexibility and more comfort for an efficient and individual driving experience.
