How do I deactivate the Automatic Start/Stop function in my MINI with Operating System 9?

The Automatic Start/Stop function in your MINI helps you to save fuel. The system switches off the engine when the vehicle stops, e.g. in case of congestion or at traffic lights. To deactivate the Automatic Start/Stop function in your MINI with Operating System 9, select the following in the Interaction Unit: Apps menu > "Vehicle" > "Driving settings" > "Drive and suspension" > "Auto Start/Stop" and select the desired setting. Automatic engine switch-off is then deactivated. In individual driving situations, you can deactivate the Automatic Start/Stop function manually by selecting the "Go-Kart Mode" drive mode with the switch for the MINI Modes or by selecting the LOW mode "L" or the Sport programme "S" with the selector lever. Please note: In MINI Mode "Go-Kart Mode" and the Sport programme "S", the Automatic Start/Stop function is generally deactivated in favour of a sporty response of the drive. In addition, the Automatic Start/Stop function can also be activated or deactivated using the quick access. To show the quick access, swipe from bottom to top on the MINI Interaction Unit. Since 11/2025, it has also been possible to access and customise the Automatic Start/Stop function via a long press in the MINI toggle bar. Depending on the model and equipment of your MINI, the availability and the operating principle may vary.
