The charging power at a high-power charging station depends on the maximum possible charging power of your MINI electric vehicle on the one hand and on the currently available charging power of the charging station on the other.
To minimise the charging time at high-power charging stations, MINI recommends:
- If possible, use charging stations with a high charging power. Use the charging filter in the map of the MINI App and in the vehicle to search for high-power charging stations.
- A parallel charging process at the same charging station can lead to a charge distribution and thus to a reduction in the available charging power. Therefore, select a charging station where no other vehicle is charging.
- Preferably charge the high-voltage battery when its state of charge is below 30 percent. The lower the state of charge, the faster the high-voltage battery can be charged.
- Use the "prepare battery" function at low temperatures. Your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9 features battery heat management for optimised DC charging. In this process, the temperature of the high-voltage battery is optimally pre-set in order to increase the charging power immediately after plugging into the charging post and to shorten the charging time. The function is automatically activated when a route to a DC charging post is active in MINI navigation. Alternatively, battery preparation can be activated manually in the "Charging" menu in the MINI system or in the MINI App before departure.
The "prepare battery" function is available for fully electric MINI models with Operating System 9 and software from 07/2024 (ex works or via a MINI Remote Software Upgrade).
