How do I unlock the charging plug at the high-voltage charging socket on my MINI electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle when the charging socket flap is open?

For safety reasons and to protect against theft, your MINI electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle locks the charging plug in the high-voltage charging socket at the start of the charging process when the charging socket flap is open. Depending on the model and equipment of your MINI, the charging plug is unlocked automatically by unlocking your vehicle or manually using the release key on the high-voltage charging socket. On MINI models with MINI Operating System 9, you can also unlock the charging plug in the MINI App: Tap on the current charging process in the status bar and select: "Unlock charging plug".
