Why do I not see the "prepare battery" icon in the status field of the central instrument of my MINI electric vehicle despite active route guidance to a DC charging station, even though I have automatically activated the function?

Your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9 features a function to prepare the battery for faster DC charging. The high-voltage battery is brought to pre-set the temperature in advance of a scheduled DC charging stop. This allows the charging power to be increased immediately after connecting to the charging post and reduces the charging time.

Battery preparation for faster DC charging starts automatically when a DC charging station is selected as a navigation destination with MINI Navigation. In the status field of the central instrument (MINI Interaction Unit), the active function is indicated by the "Prepare battery" icon.

Notices on activation

Automatic activation of the function might not possible in the following situations, amongst others:
  • "Max Range" is active
  • Route guidance is provided by another navigation system, e.g. Apple Maps (with Apple CarPlay) or Google Maps (with Android Auto)
  • Automatic activation has been deactivated in the "Charging" menu in the MINI operating system
The function is available for fully electric MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 and software version 07/2024 or newer.
