Why can't I manually activate the "prepare battery" function in my MINI electric vehicle?

For your MINI electric vehicle with Operating System 9, you can use the "Prepare battery" function to bring the high-voltage battery to pre-set the temperature for an upcoming charging process at a DC charging station. Preconditioning improves the charging power immediately after connecting to the charging post and shortens the charging time. The function can be activated automatically or manually in the MINI operating system.

Change settings for battery preparation for faster DC charging in the MINI operating system:

  • Apps menu
  • "Vehicle"
  • “Charging”
  • "Prepare battery"
    Notices on activation
Manual activation of the function might not possible in the following situations, amongst others:
    • The current or planned remaining range is too low.
    • Automatic preconditioning is already active.
    • A charging process is running, being initialised or there is a charging error.
    • "Max Range" is active.
    • There are system errors in the components involved.
    • The target temperature of the battery has been reached.

The "prepare battery" function is available for fully electric MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 with software version 07/2024 or newer.
