What activities trigger the automatic activation of the MINI ID in my MINI with Operating System 9?

By assigning a vehicle key or digital key to your MINI ID, automatic driver recognition in your MINI with Operating System 9 automatically activates your personal settings during the following activities and you are greeted on the welcome screen with your profile name and profile image from the MINI App:

 

  • By unlocking the vehicle using the button on the assigned vehicle key.
  • By unlocking the vehicle using an outside door handle. You should have the assigned vehicle key or the assigned digital key with you.
  • By automatically unlocking when approaching the vehicle. You should have the assigned vehicle key or the assigned digital key with you. Depending on the country, it may not be possible to recognise the digital key.

Please note: In the following cases, unambiguous driver recognition via the vehicle key or the digital key is restricted:

  • In the event of a driver change without the vehicle being locked and unlocked.
  • If there are several vehicle keys or several digital keys outside on the driver's side of the vehicle to which a MINI ID is assigned.
  • If the vehicle was unlocked via the MINI App.
