An innovative control system automatically increases the field of view by means of a targeted expansion of the beam, depending on the driving speed. In urban lights mode, for example, at speeds below 50 km/h with a wider light distribution, the detection of objects in the left road area (in the right road area with left-hand traffic) is made easier. In motorway beam pattern mode, the field of view is extended by a longer range of the beam and more intense illumination in the left area (in the right area with left-hand traffic). The activation of the front fog lights causes a wider light distribution and a brightening of the close range in the speed range up to 70 km/h. At higher speeds, the range is also increased in addition to the wider light distribution.
