How does the variable light distribution work in my MINI?

Depending on the model and equipment, your MINI has the variable light distribution. An innovative control system automatically increases the field of view by means of a targeted expansion of the beam, depending on the driving speed. In urban lights mode, for example, at speeds below 50 km/h with a wider light distribution, the detection of objects in the left road area (in the right road area with left-hand traffic) is made easier. In motorway beam pattern mode, the field of view is extended by a longer range of the beam and more intense illumination in the left area (in the right area with left-hand traffic). The activation of the front fog lights causes a wider light distribution and a brightening of the close range in the speed range up to 70 km/h. At higher speeds, the range is also increased in addition to the wider light distribution.
