How do I replace the battery in my MINI vehicle key ?

The battery replacement procedure may vary depending on the vehicle model. To replace the vehicle key battery of your MINI, you will need the same battery as in your vehicle key, usually type CR2032 or CR2450, and a coin or slotted screwdriver. First open the battery compartment cover by pressing and holding the small button on the side of your vehicle key and carefully pulling the cover out of the lock first at the lower end and then at the upper end. Then use a coin or a slotted screwdriver to open the battery compartment cover anti-clockwise and remove the battery from the housing. Insert the replacement battery with the positive terminal facing upwards and close the battery compartment cover by turning it clockwise with a coin or slotted screwdriver. The cover is fully closed when the two small arrowheads in the key and on the cover are pointing towards each other. Then place the cover back on the vehicle key and allow the lock to engage.
