How can I recognise that the battery in my MINI vehicle key is discharged?

You can recognise a severely or completely discharged vehicle key battery by the fact that your vehicle is difficult or impossible to unlock or by a Check Control message on your vehicle's control display. To restore the functionality of the key, the battery must be replaced. Most vehicle keys require a battery type CR2032 or CR2450. Further information on the battery and how to replace it can be found in the Owner's Handbook of your MINI.
