Why do I need the MINI Download Manager to manually update the navigation map in my MINI with a MINI Controller?

Depending on the country of delivery, you can update the navigation map in your MINI with a MINI Controller and MINI system with a menu with displays in the form of tiles (ID6) automatically or manually. After changing the region for the automatic map update or when travelling to other regions, MINI recommends updating all map material by means of a manual map update. The MINI Download Manager guides you step by step through the process of downloading the navigation map to a USB stick on your computer and saves an activation code for installing the map in the vehicle. This is automatically transferred to the USB stick by the MINI Download Manager. Please note: Since the "MINI Download Manager" program as well as the processes for downloading and unpacking the map material can change, MINI recommends reinstalling the MINI Download Manager on your computer for every manual map update. To uninstall previous versions of the MINI Download Manager, select the following in the Download Manager menu on your computer: "Settings" > "Uninstall".
