MINI recommends installing a Remote Software Upgrade in your MINI with Operating System 9 as soon as it becomes available. Before installation, you must download the data over-the-air or from your smartphone to your vehicle.
Observe the following instructions for installation:
Prior to installation:
- Installation of the Remote Software Upgrade may lead to the deletion of software changes, e.g. performance enhancements that were not made by MINI.
- Changes to the vehicle's electrical system, e.g. to the control units, which were not carried out by MINI, may result in the installation being cancelled.
- Installation will only be carried out after your confirmation in the vehicle.
- Installation can take approx. 20 - 30 minutes.
- Installation cannot be cancelled.
- You cannot use your vehicle during installation.
- You can leave your vehicle during installation.
Installation requirements:
- The state of charge of the vehicle battery is sufficient.
- The outside temperature is above -10°C
- The vehicle is level.
- The hazard warning lights are switched off.
- Selector lever position "P" is engaged.
- The engine is switched off and has cooled down sufficiently.
- Please note any further information on requirements in the MINI Interaction Unit.
Prepare the vehicle for installation:
- Park the vehicle safely off the public road.
- Select a location with good mobile reception so that a fault message can be sent to MINI if the installation is cancelled, for example.
- Close the windows, the glass sunroof and the luggage compartment.
- Disconnect other devices, e.g. your smartphone, from the power supply in the vehicle.
- Uncouple the trailer or load carrier.
- Switch off the exterior lighting.
- The vehicle key must be in the vehicle when the installation is authorised.
Once you have prepared your vehicle and all requirements have been met, you can start the installation on the MINI Interaction Unit or in the MINI App.
Functional limitations during installation:
During installation of the Remote Software Upgrade, most of the vehicle functions are temporarily unavailable, e.g.: the hazard warning lights, the central locking system and, if applicable, Comfort Access and the alarm system.
After successful installation, you can use your vehicle again immediately. Please note: Booked MINI Connected services, such as RTTI or Remote Services, are automatically reactivated during the next journey.
