Is my MINI affected by the "exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR cooler)" recall campaign?

Ongoing analyses have shown that the exhaust gas recirculation cooler (EGR cooler) of certain MINI models does not meet the BMW Group's quality standard and may start to leak over the service life of the vehicle. In combination with soot and oil deposits, the escaping coolant can produce potentially flammable deposits in the intake system and, in very rare cases, lead to localised scorching of the intake system and even a vehicle fire. The BMW Group has decided on a safety-related recall for the affected vehicles. To check whether your MINI is affected by the "exhaust gas recirculation system (EGR cooler)" recall campaign, select the "Vehicle status" menu in your vehicle or in the MINI App or go to the MINI web page of your country: [to be locally adapted - e.g. in Austria: https://www.mini.at/de_AT/home/services/technische-aktionen.html]. To check recall campaigns for your vehicle on the MINI web page, you will need the vehicle identification number (VIN). You can find this in the registration certificate, in the MINI App or in the vehicle behind the windscreen on the driver's side, on the type plate on the door frame or under the bonnet on the right-hand side of the vehicle. Recall campaigns carried out by authorised MINI Service Partners are free of charge for you.
