Ongoing analyses have shown that the exhaust gas recirculation cooler (EGR cooler) of certain MINI models does not meet the BMW Group's quality standard and may start to leak over the service life of the vehicle. In combination with soot and oil deposits, the escaping coolant can produce potentially flammable deposits in the intake system and, in very rare cases, lead to localised scorching of the intake system and even a vehicle fire. BMW AG has therefore decided to organise a technical campaign for this purpose. This involves replacing the EGR system of the affected MINI diesel vehicles. The measure is carried out by an authorised MINI Service Partner free of charge for you.
