If your MINI with Operating System 9 can still be started, charge the vehicle battery by driving for a longer period of time. If your MINI can no longer be started, charge the vehicle battery with a battery charger. Battery chargers specially developed for your vehicle and matched to the vehicle electrical system are available from your MINI Service Partner. To prevent the vehicle battery from discharging in future, activate deep sleep mode before the next time you plan to leave your vehicle for a long stationary period. Deep sleep mode in your MINI is an energy-optimised mode that conserves the vehicle battery and allows you to park for longer. In deep sleep mode, the vehicle functions of your MINI are reduced while parked and certain electrical consumers are not available. This lowers power consumption and prevents the vehicle battery from discharging during a stationary period of several weeks. Also, do not leave the side light of your MINI switched on for longer periods of time. Should the state of charge of your vehicle battery nevertheless fall into a critical range, you will receive a notification from the Battery Guard in the MINI App. The Battery Guard is automatically active in conjunction with MINI Teleservices if you have connected your MINI to your MINI ID. Please note: Only charge the vehicle battery when the combustion engine is switched off and via the jump start terminal points in the engine compartment and, in the case of mild hybrid technology, only when the bonnet is open.
Deep sleep mode is available for MINI models with MINI Operating System 9 and software version from 07/2025.
