If you want to share your MINI Digital Key or MINI Digital Key Plus with another Apple device and see the message "Something went wrong. Please try again later." or a similar fault message, this may be due to the Apple ID you are using.
If both iPhones are signed in with the same Apple ID, it might not be possible to transfer the digital vehicle key using the standard share function. This affects Apple devices running iOS 18.4 or later and is not a fault with the vehicle.
If you wish to share the MINI Digital Key or MINI Digital Key Plus with another person, the main device and the recipient's device must be signed in with different Apple IDs.
- Make sure that different Apple IDs are used on both devices.
- If necessary, delete the failed sharing attempt.
- Then share the digital vehicle key again.
If you use the same Apple ID on both a personal and a work iPhone, for example, you can add the MINI Digital Key or MINI Digital Key Plus directly on the other device:
- Open Apple Wallet on the other iPhone.
- Tap the plus icon (+).
- Select "Card found for you".
- Select the MINI Digital Key or MINI Digital Key Plus.
- Confirm the required login details or permissions.
- Tap "Next" to add the digital vehicle key.
Please note: The labels displayed and the available menu items might vary depending on the iOS version and the device configuration.
