If a door on your MINI cannot be closed mechanically or does not lock, this might be because the door lock has not been reset to its initial position. As a result, it might not engage properly when closing.
In many cases, the function of the door can be restored:
- From the outside, press the door lightly against the body in the area near the door handle, as if you were about to close the door.
- At the same time, press the door release button on the outside door handle.
- Then check whether the door can be closed and locked as normal again.
If the problem occurs when closing the door from the inside, press the door gently in the closing direction whilst simultaneously pressing the door release button. This will reposition the door lock correctly, so that the door then closes and locks properly.
If the problem recurs or the door still cannot be closed, we recommend having it checked by a MINI Service Partner to resolve the issue permanently.
