Why does the glass on my MINI's exterior mirror look patchy or cloudy, and what can I do about it?

A patchy or milky, cloudy appearance on the exterior mirror is often caused by residues from car washes. Certain cleaning agents in the wash water can corrode the surface of the mirror glass and cause visible changes.

In many cases, the cloudiness can be significantly reduced or completely removed by thorough cleaning followed by polishing with a suitable glass polish. If the surface remains impaired, it is advisable to replace the mirror glass.

To prevent further deposits, we suggest briefly cleaning any remaining residue from the mirror glass after each trip through the car wash. This ensures that the function and visual quality of the exterior mirror are maintained in the long term.
