Is the signal strength of my smartphone amplified by the MINI roof aerial?

Yes. Depending on the model, production date and equipment of your MINI, the mobile signal of your smartphone in the wireless charging tray is amplified via the MINI roof aerial. At the same time, the radiation in the passenger compartment is reduced. The "aerial pairing" takes place capacitively in the wireless charging tray. The smartphone's signal is transmitted via an aerial line to an aerial compensator installed at the rear end of the roof. This amplifies the smartphone's signal and forwards it to the roof aerial. Conversely, the reception signal is also amplified by the aerial compensator, forwarded via the aerial line and transferred capacitively from the charging cradle to the smartphone. The "aerial coupling" also takes place for smartphones that do not support inductive charging.
