How does contactless tailgate opening work in my MINI with Comfort Access?

Depending on the model, you can open and close the tailgate of your MINI contactlessly with the options "Comfort Access" (SA 322) and "automatic tailgate operation" (SA 316). To do this, move your foot centrally under the rear apron. The tailgate opens automatically. Your MINI’s turn indicators are briefly switched on to indicate that the tailgate is opening. You can also close the tailgate with the same foot movement. Alternatively, you can touch the opening sensor in the tailgate to open it, or press the "Close" button in the upper tailgate to close it.
